My First Blog

Hi this is Alan Paller writing to you. Ok, so I'm a little late getting started with a blog but now that I finally have some extra time , I can start this blog and try to entertain and inform anyone who would like to know more about me, Alan Paller and my company--VideoGems. Although Videogems was started in 1992, I have been recording events all my life. I still have my Bauer Super 8 camera that I made my first movie with when I was 9 years old. By the time I was 15, I owned a reel to reel Concord Videotape machine and I videotaped my high school's performance of 'Fiddler on the Roof' that year.

Many of you know me as a musician and bandleader. That is true. I was also the organist for the Philadelphia Flyers 1976-1987. Seventy Sixers 1976-1996 and even the Philadelphia Phillies in 1976. If you want to know how I got the job--it's a long story---but a good one. I was the youngest organist in the league at the time. (age 19)

For me, music and video flow seamlessly together and if you watch my video demos, you will see how most of them are 'music driven'. My band is still working but I prefer to book more concert venues than performing at weddings. For those interested in the band, please visit http://www.paller.com/. You will hear everything from a top forty band to a Roaring 20's swing band to a 35 piece Sousa Band called the Liberty Band.

Film-making has alway been a passion with me and I think that passion filters into my wedding and event videos. I also have a background in photography and totally understand the use and properties of light. That's good to know as a videographer! I feel that I am a story teller as well as the final witness to your event and the more moving the video is----the more memorable it becomes thereby becoming a treasured keepsake.
I am married and live in Montgomery County with my wife, Faye and daughter Emily. My wife is a very talented and acclaimed artist you can see her work at http://www.fayerose.com/.
She also teaches yoga, pilates and painting.

I hope you enjoy these posts and memories of the happiest times in a persons life.

Alan
